HIT: Extract Summary Information from 6 Shopping Receipts

HIT: EXTRACT SUMMARY INFORMATION FROM 6 SHOPPING RECEIPTS

On the 6 receipt HIT's, keep these important things in mind:

- you must check the autofilled or prefilled fields for accuracy, the system is not always right, you have to verify the fields have correct information and if not, put in the right info
- ALWAYS check the date on the dropdown menu, if the date on the receipt is not on the menu then select 'more than 15 days old'; if there is no date on the receipt choose 'no transaction date found'
- we reprocess older receipts sometimes, so you have to always check for a date on the dropdown menu, you cannot assume a December dated receipt that shows up today is 'old', look for the date first
- make sure the store name, date and total are perfect as these are critical fields, they determine where the receipt will go next and how we track it, so you have to enter these perfect or we have to reject
-type in the name off the logo only (not the slogan), although CVS and Rite Aid work in the shortened version, not all store names do, you have to enter Neighborhood Market by Walmart (not just Walmart) as this is a separate store from Walmart, also there is Target and City Target (receipt says City and has the Target bulls eye); be very careful grabbing names from the dropdown box, they are often wrong and alot of times the mouse slips and grabs the name above or below
- you don't have to count the items on the receipt if there are more than 10, just give a good estimate, we don't reject for a slightly wrong count (if you enter 1 and there are 50+ we have an issue with that though); this part of the HIT sends the receipt to short or long receipt transcription and the workers that get a long receipt in the short receipt HIT are rather unhappy, so try to make a close estimation, some receipts have the item count on them, you can use that if you find it
- watch very carefully for gas/fuel/diesel/propane only sales receipts and mark them as gas-only sale; if there is anything else purchased with the gas then it is a valid receipt and treat it as any other receipt; we are trying to eliminate the gas-only sales in this HIT from going further; there is a choice on the "is the receipt valid" menu for gas-only sales, choose it here and you won't have to answer any more questions; be aware that some grocery stores also sell gas and they can look like a regular receipt, as well as the ones that print at the pump; if there is only one item purchased on a receipt, look at it closely to make sure what it is
- If the receipt is a transaction slip from a credit/debit card sale, etc., then mark it as whatever it is on the "is the receipt valid" list, there is a link at the top of the HIT that shows non valid receipts, be sure to open it; if there are no items purchased on the receipt, then it is not a receipt and we want to kick it out in this HIT before going on to be processed further; if you are not sure what kind of non valid receipt it is, mark it as "Not a shopping receipt"
- In regard to the total, we don't want cash back balances, or food stamp balances, we want the total that usually comes after the tax is added in (which usually comes after the coupons are deducted)
- If you cannot easily read the receipt info, this includes the items purchased and their information, then mark the receipt as blurry; just because you can read the parts you need is not enough to make the HIT, the next worker has to use the items to make the HIT and if they cannot easily read them, then they can't make the HIT; no one should suffer eyestrain
- If some of the information is missing from the receipt (not in the photo set of the receipt, covered, cut off or not photographed) then mark the HIT as 'no, full receipt including store, items and total not provided'
- We accept receipts from Puerto Rico, but any other foreign country receipt, mark as 'No receipt is not in English', if you are not sure, complete the HIT information, we know this can be tricky and don't usually reject if you answer all the questions and don't indicate it is a foreign receipt
- Fake and Doctored are when someone has tampered with the receipt, they changed the date or total, tape the top of one receipt to the bottom of another, send in photo-copies and any other thing they can think of to cheat the system, watch out for these although they are not common
- We do allow Amazon.com and other online shopping receipts, do the best you can with them, they can be difficult
- The person that submits the receipt can cross off personal information or an item they don't want to show, this is allowed

Thank you for making our HIT's.
