HIT: IDENTIFY IF TWO RECEIPTS ARE THE SAME
There are several ways to reliably tell receipts apart.
The date/time, but this is not always accurate, only if the time
has seconds given as well. Short sales can be made back to back in the
same minute.
The next is bar codes, usually the difference is in the middle of
the code. However not all receipts have bar codes and some codes have no
numbers (only the bars - as on Target receipts).
The last option is the transaction code. Most receipts have
one, however it is not always clear which set of numbers is the code. It can
be marked with TR #, tr, trans, and other assorted abbreviations or with no
indicated letters. When there are no indicators, it usually is on the
same line as the date/time, either before or after.
On Walmart receipts the code is at the top and marked with TR#, on
this receipt it is 09540:

On CVS it is the TRN #, 8264 on this receipt:

On Walgreens receipts it is the second set of numbers in the top
line, on this receipt it is 2494:

On Kroger, Ralph's and several other store receipts, it is the
code after the date/time:

On Dollar Tree and several other store receipts, it is the code
before the date/time:

On Target receipts look for this line after the totals section:

These should help you to tell the receipts apart quick and reliably.
Please be very
careful that you select the YES or NO answer carefully and check it before you
submit as many errors come from being too quick and submitting the HIT with the
opposite choice you intended.
Thank you for making our HIT's.
